Do you accept insurance?

Do you accept insurance?

No. Jumuiya practices a direct-care model so we can center equitable access, protect time for a truly holistic approach, and address your needs without insurance gatekeeping.

How this works with your existing insurance:

  • You can still use insurance for medications (HMO or PPO) and for labs, imaging, and referrals (PPO only).
  • Many members find our member-rate cash prices for labs/imaging are often lower than insurance copays. We’ll help you compare so you can choose what’s best
  • Membership is NOT insurance; we recommend keeping coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, and specialty care.

Our commitment to equity:
We keep pricing transparent, explore equity-minded options when possible, and design care that honors culture, context, and lived experience. Access is clearer, costs are predictable, and your wellness is truly supported.

Why should I consider membership based care?

Why should I consider membership based care?

If you’re generally “healthy,” membership may feel unnecessary. However real, lasting wellness rarely comes from a once-a-year visit. Optimal health grows with consistency, support, and accountability. Membership is a long-term commitment to your well-being, used as little or as often as you need.

What you receive
  • Direct access to your physician (call/chat/email)—not a nurse line, not a stranger on telehealth.
  • Unrushed 60-minute visits that make space for lifestyle, nutrition, botanicals, and mind-body care.
  • Continuity and follow-through so your plan evolves with you.
  • Same- or next-business-day availability and clear, transparent pricing.

Because we limit membership, your doctor cares for a smaller panel of patients, allowing more time, minimal wait, thoughtful specialist coordination, and a relationship that truly honors your story. At Jumuiya, your health is sacred and membership makes room for it.

Can I be seen without a membership?

Can I be seen without a membership?

We’re designed for sustained, whole-person care, not single, isolated appointments. True change takes time. Membership ensures continuity and consistency.

Is Jumuiya only for members of the BIPOC community?

Is Jumuiya only for members of the BIPOC community?

No. All are welcome! Anyone who aligns with our mission and feels a connection with Dr. Powell is invited to join and will receive the same high-quality, holistic care, regardless of background, identity, or any group they belong to. Our practice is community centered, trauma-informed, and we aim to provide an affirming, respectful space for everyone.

Is there a long-term committment to membership?

Is there a long-term committment to membership?

Yes. We ask for an initial 3-month commitment, to establish care and build momentum toward your wellness. After which, you can cancel anytime. There’s no lump-sum payment required. This structure supports consistency while keeping your commitment clear and manageable.

Where is your clinic located?

Where is your clinic located?

We’re currently virtual-only, serving patients across Georgia. Our business mailing address is 127 Jonesboro Road, Suite 1680, Jonesboro, GA 30236. In-clinic care is coming soon. Join now as a virtual member and you’ll have the option seamlessly transition to in-clinic visits once enrollment opens. We encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list for expansion updates.

Is this a concierge medicine practice?

Is this a concierge medicine practice?

No. While concierge and Direct Primary Care (DPC) can look similar (both limit panel size and charge a membership), there are key differences:

Concierge care typically has much higher fees, still bills insurance, and may charge copays per visit.

Jumuiya’s DPC model is a direct relationship between you and your physician: we don’t bill insurance and there are no copays. Our model is designed for accessibility, equity, and whole health, not exclusivity.

What forms of payment are accepted?

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept ACH (bank draft), credit/debit card, and cash. All membership, enrollment, and applicable service fees are processed through a secure payment system.

Additionally, as of January 1,2026, the IRS allows individuals enrolled in qualifying Direct Primary Care service arrangements to use HSA funds tax-free to pay DPC membership fees (subject to federal definitions and limits).  HSA/FSA funds may be used up to the allowed amount, and any remaining balance can be paid using an alternative acceptable method. We advise that anyone wishing to use this method of payment, confirm eligibility with their HSA/FSA administrator.

What if I need medical care while I’m traveling?

What if I need medical care while I’m traveling?

Jumuiya can often care for you even when you’re away from home. Many concerns can be addressed by phone, secure portal, or video, and when appropriate, we’ll send prescriptions to a nearby pharmacy. Continuity, access, and culturally aligned support—wherever you are.

Do you see children?

Do you see children?

No, not currently. As a board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Powell is trained to care for patients of all ages, and we anticipate offering pediatric services soon with in-office care. Please note, that we do not currently, nor do we anticipate, offering routine vaccines in our office. We will partner with you to arrange any needed immunizations.

What is your policy on controlled substances?

What is your policy on controlled substances?

We prescribe controlled medications sparingly and case-by-case, guided by safety, evidence, and Georgia/federal law.

  • No routine long-term opioids or benzodiazepines for chronic, non-cancer conditions.
  • Stimulants, sleep meds, and other controlled drugs may be considered with appropriate diagnosis, documentation, and close follow-up.
  • Requires a treatment agreement, PDMP review, and, when appropriate, periodic urine drug screening.
  • No early refills, replacements for lost/stolen meds, or dose escalations without reassessment.
  • Some prescriptions may require an in-person evaluation or specific visit frequency to comply with regulations.

We prioritize non-controlled options first (lifestyle, nutrition, botanicals, mind-body, and non-controlled medications). If a controlled substance is appropriate, we’ll co-create a plan with clear goals, monitoring, and tapering when indicated.

Do you perform pap smears?

Do you perform pap smears?

Currently we do not, as we only offer virtual care at this time. Routine Pap smears will be available once in-clinic care launches.

In the meantime, we can help you stay current with screening with an at-home option if medically appropriate. We can coordinate an FDA-approved, at-home HPV self-collection kit as an alternative screening pathway or arrange for self-collection at a participating lab service center. Positive or abnormal results still require follow-up. We’ll review which option is suitable based on your medical history and ensure appropriate follow-up with a referral to a Gynecologist until in-office paps are available..

Invest in your wellness. Choose care where you are seen, heard, and safe. At Jumuiya Holistic Health your health is sacred.
